Meet My Kitty

I happened to be reading my profile the other day, and I realised that I mentioned my long suffering cat, but have not mentioned him in my blog before. And thus, this post.

He was a stray whose Mum sought shelter in my neighbour's shoe rack. He was adorable, so we took him in. On hindsight, we should have taken his sibling in too, for company when we're not home. Next time we'll know better. His nickname when young was Psycho Cat, because he would be bouncing off the walls with energy. He has since mellowed with age.

When I got married, he continued to live with my brother at our old place. However, when my brother moved to a place not so cat friendly, we took him in and he has been with us since. He is a very affectionate cat, and very dog like. He used to play 'fetch' when he was younger, and is not terribly aloof. I remember he used to wake me up by shaking the nedroom door when I was teaching in the morning sessions.

He and Little Man are great friends. While he would not take any crap from us, he has always been very gentle with Little Man, even letting Little Man use him as a pillow.

He stayed really still for quite a long time, getting up and walking away when he was done. He would have showed his displeasure if it were Mr Cuppa or me.

He would also be part of Little Man's play.

He loves to cuddle.
And I'm happy to oblige. He's an old man now. I can't remember when we got him, but he's at least 17 years old now.

So there you go. Now you've met my handsome kitty.

Little Lady's First Week in School

Wow. Time really flies. It seemed that it wasn't too long ago that I just wrote a post about Little Man starting school. And now I'm writing one about Little Lady.

Getting her temperature taken before joining the class.

Because we were on holiday over the New Year, she missed the Orientation Programme and started school only a week after the other new kids did. Although we were back on Thursday, and Little Man went to school on Friday, due to the easing in programme, Little Lady had Friday off, and only started on Monday, as the easing in programme is a week lo
Painting.

Monday was parent-accompanied for two hours. I had a little chair to sit on and observe, available should she wish to look for me. I did pop up quite often to take some pictures. She was perfectly fine and did her own thing. She painted, work on some puzzles, learnt to unroll and roll a mat. She came and got me a few times, to look at her painting, so see what she was doing, and so that she could sit in my chair instead. She must have been wondering what was so special about that chair. Lol

Her first painting in school.

Tuesday and Wednesday she was in school for an hour unaccompanied. I think she did really well. She was happy when I dropped them off, and happy when I picked her up a little later.

Working on her fine motor skills.

Thursday and Friday she was in school for two hours, and then she'll be in school for the full 3 hours next week onwards. She was somewhat reluctant to leave when she realised that no one else was leaving.

"I don't want to go home."

Having fun in Mandarin class.

It has been a great first week for Little Lady. She has adapted really well, and she finally gets to join her Kor Kor in school. Mummy's so proud of you.

Happy Belated New Year

Happy 2015!

Many apologies for the radio (electronic?) silence. We were away on holiday from Christmas over the new year.

We returned happy and raring to go on Thursday. Friday morning, we got word that my Grandmother's heart had stopped, but that the doctors managed to revive her. However, she passed on very early on Saturday morning.

The start of 2015 has been a roller coaster on this end. I do hope yours started out better.
