Discovery Bottles - Listen to the sounds.

Made a whole bunch of discovery bottles for the Little Lady the other day. This time, the focus was on the sense of hearing, so the bottles were filled with different materials that would produce different types of sounds, and at different volumes.

They are really easy to make. I used things I had lying around the house such as pom poms, beads if different sizes, erasers, even scrap paper. Just put them into empty bottles. I used mostly drink/juice bottles, but also used a couple of old medicine bottles.

If you have a toddler, the assembling of the bottles can be an activity as well! The Little Man got to practice his fine motor skills such as his pincer grasp, pouring, and opening and closing the bottle caps. He had a blast making them.

The Little Lady enjoys shaking them to listen to then the sounds the make. When the Little Man plays with them, we talk about how loud the noise is, as well as how different they are.

Little Man: 2yrs 9mths
Little Lady: 8mths
